EFFICIENT BEAM SHAPERS USING PHASE-ONLY MASKS AT A FRACTIONAL FOURIER TRANSFORM PLANE
abstract : This paper reports a technique for beam shaping using phase-only filters at a fractional Fourier transform plane. A two-lens Fourier transforming optical setup is proposed for the purpose. Fresnel transform is used for analyzing the proposed system and the corresponding computer software is developed for simulating the performance of the masking setup. Predicted behaviour is experimentally verified for a periodic grating as object.It has been found such filters may be a good contender for shaping of laser beams.
