Compensated fabrication conditions of multiply exposed volume holograms for optical interconnects

The Bragg mismatching condition for volume holograms occurs because of the changes in the thickness and the refractive index of holographic recording mediums during the recording and reconstruction procedures. Consequently, a holographic optical element (HOE) fabricated with multiply-exposed volume sub-holograms can not operate its functions as desired. We propose the compensated fabrication conditions to physically correect the effects coming from these changes in the thickness and the refractive index. In addition, we use Slavich VRP-M photographic plates to fabricate two HOEs according to these fabrication conditions to show the validities of these compensated fabrication conditions.
